General

The boulevard of Egmond aan Zee is the location of start and finish. The course takes the participants over the beach across the North Sea to the turning point of Ijmuiden. From there it is another 18 km to the finish in Egmond aan Zee, so the total distance will be 36 kilometres.

An extra competition is the Combi Race for those, who also run the PWN Egmond Half Marathon on 9 January, one day later (www.pwnegmondhalvemarathon.nl). For those extra prizes are available.

With two weeks later the Egmond Walking Marathon (www.pwnegmondwandelmarathon.nl) Egmond aan Zee will be the 'capital' of winter sports activities in Holland.

The Egmond events have built a reputation during the last years. Each year, the weather, the wind and the beach determine the course of the running, cycling and walking events. Many cold, stormy editions are still fresh in every participant's memory. Of course sunny, almost spring-like editions can be remembered too. Every participant will receive a special Egmond-Pier-Egmond medal and of bottle of AA-Drink after the finish.
